Thomas More Law Center Stands for Donor Privacy at the Supreme Court

Update:In a 6-3 decision, the U.S. Supreme Court protected every American’s right to peacefully support causes they believe in without fear of harassment or intimidation.

Use this momentum to take a stand today against intimidation, threats, and harassment!

In our current toxic social climate, expressing your views can be dangerous. It makes sense that some donors prefer to keep private the names of the nonprofit organizations to which they give.

But some government officials in California threatened donor privacy.

They demanded that nonprofit organizations that ask for support in the state, like Thomas More Law Center, hand over the names and addresses of their major donors ever year.

This blanket demand was dangerous, unnecessary, and uncalled-for.

Not to mention that California has a bad track record when it comes to keeping sensitive information private. Thomas More Law Center (TMLC) knew their donors’ privacy was at risk.

So, with the help of Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys, it challenged the State of California at the U.S. Supreme Court. And on April 26, the Court heard oral arguments in TMLC’s case.

The stakes were high. Donors, clients, and employees of TMLC have already faced intimidation, death threats, hate mail, boycotts, and even an assassination plot from ideological opponents.

And now, the Supreme Court just issued a decision protecting TMLC and every American’s right to support causes they believe in without fear of harassment or intimidation. Praise God!

Will you take advantage of this momentum? Make your gift today to stand against government overreach and continue to help ensure Americans are free to peacefully support causes they believe in without fear of harassment or intimidation.

Thank you!
