What is it like working for us?
At Alliance Defending Freedom, you will use your unique abilities and skills to make a lasting impact while being a part of a professional and collaborative environment. We value who you are and will provide the training and resources to ensure your continued growth and development.
We work hard and serve our clients with diligence, but we also enjoy one another’s company. It’s not uncommon to find someone’s office decorated for their birthday, or for a team to get a celebratory lunch for a marriage, new baby, holiday, or work milestone.
If you’re looking for a job where you will glorify God while making a difference working for one of the world’s premier Christian legal non-profits, then join our mission to keep the doors open for the Gospel so that true freedom can flourish.
Hear what current and former ADF team members say about working at ADF:
“Many years in the corporate world left me beaten, battered, exhausted—and most of all, unappreciated. At ADF we work hard, but for a greater purpose. The work is interesting, and the team members are very supportive, regardless of your role. The people truly care and want to help. When they ask how you are doing, they really want to know. At ADF I feel appreciated and know that my contributions make a difference.”
“Working at ADF is countercultural, which makes it a fresh, exciting place to work. Our daily task is to uphold religious freedom—here in the United States and around the world. It personally invigorates me to know I am making a difference to protect the fundamental freedoms of our country.”
“Each day when I come to work at ADF, I am inspired by the individuals who believe in and are passionate about preserving religious freedom in spite of our ever-changing culture. These individuals generously sacrifice their time, resources, and finances to help protect religious liberty, marriage and family, and the sanctity of life.”
What are ADF’s Guiding Principles?
How an organization pursues its mission is just as important as what its mission is. Here at ADF, we have five Guiding Principles that govern the way we go about our mission.
We rely solely upon God’s redemptive grace for our existence, our vision, and our sustenance, trusting in His sovereignty as we seek to convey hope to all we serve (John 15:5).
We are committed to anticipating and meeting the legal needs of those dedicated to preserving religious freedom.
Committed to Victory
We will prayerfully enter every battle expecting to win, while always demonstrating respect toward those who oppose us.
Committed to Excellence
We are dedicated to achieving exceptional results in defending and advocating for the right of people to freely live out their faith.
Committed to Stewardship
We acknowledge that all resources are a gift from God and hold ourselves to the highest standards of accountability to Him and those who support our efforts. We will never presume that we will be in business tomorrow.

Why Work at ADF?
At Alliance Defending Freedom, we are committed to victory. ADF has played various roles in 74 Supreme Court victories. Since 2011, ADF has won 15 cases at the Supreme Court. These victories have been on behalf of pastors, churches, religious organizations, college students, family-owned businesses, pro-life pregnancy centers, and a town council. ADF has litigated thousands of cases in the U.S. and has a nearly 80% win rate. Internationally, ADF has represented hundreds of clients and has achieved 35 victories at the European Court of Human Rights.
Victories like these don’t come easy and that’s why we rely on one another. It takes an entire team of highly skilled individuals in diverse roles ranging from lawyers to writers to event coordinators to fundraisers and so many others. Each plays a crucial role in achieving victory in court and supporting our clients.
Our team members are the best in the business. Our current employees have experience working in:
- The highest levels of government, including the White House, the Department of Justice, U.S. Attorney offices, state attorney general offices, and for Members of Congress.
- Prominent law firms like Kirkland & Ellis, Latham & Watkins, Jones Day, Cravath, Swaine & Moore, etc.
- 44% of our attorneys have held federal clerkships—including at the U.S. Supreme Court and nine of the 12 U.S. Courts of Appeals—or clerkships at state supreme courts. ADF has more former clerks as a percentage of total attorneys than some of the largest and most respected law firms in the country.
