Doe v. Parish of St. Tammany

Last Updated: 5/29/2020

Overview

Summary

A federal judge refused to grant a demand by the American Civil Liberties Union to have a painting of Jesus removed from a display at the Slidell city courthouse, stating that the case was essentially over. The painting, which is displayed alongside other notable and historical lawgivers, such as Charlemagne, Moses and William Blackstone, among others, had already resided there for a number of years. ADF attorneys represented city, parish and court officials in the case.
