Last night during Super Bowl 50, Doritos unveiled this ad:
A husband and wife are in for an ultrasound of their baby when the husband, who is eating Doritos, notices that as he moves his chip, the baby moves in sync trying to grab it. The wife, annoyed, grabs the chip from her husband’s hand and throws it across the room. Cut to the ultrasound monitor where we see the baby make a mad dash out of the womb for the chip.
Laugh out loud funny!
You win, Doritos!
Well, as expected, abortion rights activists like the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL) had something to say about the commercial:
#NotBuyingIt - that @Doritos ad using #antichoice tactic of humanizing fetuses & sexist tropes of dads as clueless & moms as uptight. #SB50
— NARAL (@NARAL) February 8, 2016
Twitter didn’t hold back. Here are just a few responses:
@NARAL @Doritos I wonder if humanizing fetuses has anything to do with the fact that human fetuses are, you know, human.
— TheValuesVoter (@TheValuesVoter) February 8, 2016
.@NARAL So the "fetus" isn't human yet you call the man and woman dad and mom? Try again. And kudos to @Doritos!
— Aubrey Blankenship (@aubreynb) February 8, 2016
@NARAL Uh, it is a human. You do know that, right?

@NARAL Truth is that a fetus is indeed a human baby! Thank you @Doritos for showing the truth! #SB50

@NARAL @Doritos Humanizing fetuses? Did you all flunk biology? #SB50 #itsababy
— Leslie PalmaSimoncek (@leslieps918) February 8, 2016
@NARAL @Doritos "Humanizing"? Is it a lobster?
— Paul Drake (@PaulWDrake) February 8, 2016
@NARAL @Doritos acknowledges the humanity of an unborn life in an ad and anti-life/pro-abortion radicals come unhinged. #SB50

NARAL is the Westboro Baptist Church of abortion activism. Next stop: protesting their neighbors' baby showers and picketing Buy Buy Baby.

Oh, but don’t worry; humanizing a dog is just fine with NARAL:
#MediaWeLike - the @subaru_usa commercial with dog parents driving their puppies around! 😍🐶 #SB50
— NARAL (@NARAL) February 8, 2016
That also went over well.
But it's not okay to humanize humans? @NARAL please explain.
— David Leininger (@LT_DavidLein) February 8, 2016
.@NARAL @subaru_usa it is a common tactic from the #AntiHomoSapien crowd humanizing dogs. This sort of #speciesism must not stand.
— INDY Conservatarian (@TheINDYpundit) February 8, 2016
@NARAL @subaru_usa You don't have any issues with them humanizing dogs, but humanizing fetuses is terrible... right?
— Jas Kasalova (@James_Kasal) February 8, 2016
@NARAL Are you okay w/ dog parents having the choice to abort their dogs' fetuses just like you believe women have the right to abort theirs
— Elizabeth Bradford (@lizbradford07) February 8, 2016
@NARAL @subaru_usa Dehumanize babies, humanize dogs #ImaFormerFetus #SB50
— Ann Koshute (@AKoshute) February 8, 2016
@NARAL Humanizing dogs is great. It's humanizing actual humans that you hate. Got it. #SB50 #ShowingYourCards

NARAL wasn’t a fan of Super Bowl Babies either… or were they? I’m confused, as was everyone else.
#NARAL can't decide whether they are for or against #SuperBowlBabies. pic.twitter.com/dFaAjEu4sE

After that, I couldn’t agree more with this guy.
@NARAL Seriously... after the "@Doritos is humanizing fetuses" tweet, maybe you ought to just take the rest of the night off.

Abortion advocates like NARAL and Planned Parenthood are not convincing anyone. All they’ve demonstrated is that they are anti-science, and want to keep women uninformed. Women deserve better!
