BLOGNews You Should Know: Abortion = Genocide

By Michael Farris, Jr. Posted on: | June 07, 2019

This week, Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Vice President of U.S. Legal Division Kristen Waggoner responds to a university professor who insinuated that babies are a “cancer.” Waggoner says this is the language of those who justify genocide. And this is not the first time abortion has been called genocide. A Louisiana state Democrat recently defended a newly signed heartbeat bill by calling abortion “modern-day genocide.” Also, a U.S. senator explains why one judicial nominee is bad for religious liberty, and a biological male creates unfair competition for NCAA Division II women athletes. All of this from the Alliance Alert team.

Fox News: Kristen Waggoner: Babies aren’t cancer

A professor at the University of California, San Diego, recently compared unborn babies to cancer, and Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Vice President of U.S. Legal Division Kristen Waggoner shows just how wrong this kind of thinking is. She says that this type of language—which compares a wonderful gift that brings love and joy to a life-threatening disease—is the same type of language that evil men have used to justify genocide. Waggoner also says that the pro-abortion side is willfully distorting scientific fact to suit their ideology is bent upon justifying killing human babies.

National Review: Nominees Hostile to Religious Liberty Have No Place on the Federal Bench

A judicial nominee for federal court in Michigan has a bad record on religious freedom, as U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) explains. Judicial nominee Michael Bogren, while representing the city of East Lansing against ADF clients Steve and Bridget Tennes, launched personal attacks by comparing the Tennes' Catholic beliefs about marriage to the practices of the Ku Klux Klan. Sen. Hawley writes that judges are supposed to impartially uphold the law and that a nominee with anti-religious hostility will only advance his personal agenda from the bench.

The Daily Caller: Biological Male Wins NCAA Women’s Track Championship

A biological male recently bested his female competitors at the NCAA DII women's 400-meter hurdles over the weekend. The athlete, known as "CeCe," had partaken in the Franklin Pierce University's men's track team as late as January 2018 but was allowed to participate in the female event this year, where he surpassed the second-place winner by more than one second. NCAA standards prohibit biological males from competing in women's events unless they have taken testosterone suppressants for a full calendar year. This incident comes at a time when two biological males have dominated high school girls' track meets in Connecticut, which one female competitor said is "demoralizing."

The Hill: Louisiana state Democrat: Abortion is 'modern-day genocide'

Late last month, Louisiana joined five other states that have passed laws which protect the unborn once a heartbeat is detected. While most of these laws bear the signature of a Republican governor, the Louisiana law was signed by a Democrat governor and backed by state Democrats. Rep. Katrina Jackson broke ranks with other state and national Democrats when she defended the heartbeat bill, saying that abortion is a "modern-day" genocide. This is in stark contrast to the some in the progressive wing of the Democratic party who seek to legalize infanticide up to birth.
