A campus police officer approached Chike Uzuegbunam. The officer said that someone had complained and told Chike to stop what he was doing.
Chike wasn’t protesting an event or shouting down a speaker. He was simply sharing the Gospel with fellow students at his college. And he was doing so peacefully.
But campus officials blocked his speech at every turn.Support Chike

How did this happen?
First, they confined Chike to two small speech zones that made up less than 0.0015 percent of campus and were only open 18 hours a week. These restrictions were not only unfair but also unconstitutional. Still, Chike did what the college officials requested.
But that wasn’t enough. When Chike began sharing the Gospel during his reserved time in one of the speech zones, a campus police officer told him to stop speaking publicly because someone had complained.
This is unacceptable.
Government officials—such as college administrators and campus police—have no business silencing a student’s speech. College campuses are free speech zones.
With the help of Alliance Defending Freedom, Chike decided to take a stand for freedom. (See below as Chike shares why we must protect freedom of speech for everyone.) But so far, college officials have avoided accountability for violating Chike’s constitutional right to free speech. The lower courts wrongly dismissed Chike’s case, giving the college officials a free pass by refusing to acknowledge that they violated Chike’s rights.
That’s why Chike asked the U.S. Supreme Court to step in. And on March 8, the Supreme Court rightly affirmed that government officials should be held accountable for the injuries they cause.
We must continue to ensure government officials don’t get a free pass any time they trample someone’s constitutional rights. Whether it’s Chike’s rights, your rights, or anyone else’s. Freedom must be protected.
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of Chike on March 8. Praise God!
