MS governor signs bill banning abortions based on race, sex, or disability

Published On: 7/2/2020

The following quote may be attributed to Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Counsel Denise Burke regarding Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeve’s signing Wednesday of the Life Equality Act, legislation that protects unborn children from being aborted because of their race, sex, disability, or genetic makeup:

“Every innocent life is worthy of protection, and no one should be discriminated against because of his or her race, sex, disability, or genetic makeup. This is especially true of unborn children who are being marked for death because someone has determined that they are the wrong race or sex, or because a medical test has indicated that they might have genetic anomalies or disabilities, like Down syndrome. Children shouldn’t have to pass a genetic test to earn the right to be born. That’s why we commend Gov. Reeves and the Mississippi Legislature for extending antidiscrimination protections to children in the womb.”
