ADF Statement: “Christian student groups shouldn’t be discriminated against for their beliefs. Denying religious liberty to Christian students is a violation of the First Amendment, not a requirement of it," said Nate Kellum, senior counsel with the Alliance Defense Fund.
"This result effectively eliminates Christians’ right to associate as a high school club. It was our hope that, after close to a decade of discrimination on the part of Kent School District officials, the U.S. Supreme Court would finally and rightfully uphold the constitutional rights of these students, which are no different than the rights of students who hold other views.”
"Letting the 9th circuit decision stand guts both the Equal Access Act and the First Amendment right to associate for high school students in nine states."
