Bill in Congress targets women receiving resources, support from pregnancy care centers

The following quote may be attributed to Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Counsel Denise Burke regarding the U.S. Senate’s consideration Thursday of legislation that targets women receiving resources and invaluable support from thousands of pregnancy care centers across the country:

“While we celebrate the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent ruling that there are important interests in protecting unborn life, some legislators are actually working to prevent women facing unplanned pregnancies from receiving the resources and life-saving support they need. In a reckless attempt to incapacitate the life-affirming work of thousands of pregnancy care centers across the country, these lawmakers are pushing legislation that would force these centers to comply with government-approved speech or face punishment. The Supreme Court has already made it abundantly clear in a case ADF attorneys won on behalf of pregnancy care centers that the government can’t target certain speakers because it doesn’t like a particular viewpoint. We will continue to defend pregnancy care centers and their constitutionally protected freedoms against such hostile attacks by government officials and pro-abortion politicians.”
