Briana Caldwell/Randolph County Schools

Last Updated: 6/2/2020

Overview

Summary

Briana Caldwell, a student at Randleman High School, was censored by school officials during the Pro-Life Day of Silent Solidarity. Caldwell wore a shirt with the word "abortion" crossed out, and passed out fliers during non-instructional time explaining her pro-life views. However, the school's assistant principal told her to stop distributing the materials and keep her jacket on to cover up the message on her shirt because both were "offensive" and "violated" the separation of church and state. The fliers were also confiscated and not returned.
