Trump admin drops Biden-era case challenging Alabama law that protects children

The following quote may be attributed to Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Counsel and Vice President of Litigation Strategy Jonathan Scruggs regarding the Trump administration’s dismissal Tuesday of the legal challenge brought by the prior administration in Boe v. Marshall. In the case, politicized interest groups are challenging Alabama’s law that protects children from harmful drugs and surgeries that alter their bodies to make them look like the opposite sex. Under the Biden administration, the Department of Justice intervened in that lawsuit on the side of those interest groups to stop Alabama from enforcing its common-sense law:

Alabama rightly enacted a law that protects children’s health and welfare—supporting their natural biological development and ensuring that children experiencing gender dysphoria have a chance for comprehensive healing and compassionate mental-health support. Alliance Defending Freedom remains committed to supporting Alabama and the other 24 states that are following the science and pursuing safe and effective ways to help kids who experience distress over their sex.”

The American Civil Liberties Union is continuing its lawsuit against the state of Alabama, so the case will proceed in federal district court.
