Biden’s executive order seeks to please pro-abortion radicals, create false panic

President Biden

The following quote may be attributed to Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Counsel Denise Harle, director of the ADF Center for Life, regarding the executive order President Joe Biden signed Friday in an attempt to pacify pro-abortion radicals:

“Faced with mounting pressure by pro-abortion radicals, President Biden is using his executive authority to create false panic and spread harmful misinformation surrounding care for women and unborn children, and to inject lies into the public discussion. For example, women undergoing abortions already receive the same privacy protections guaranteed by HIPAA as other medical patients, and no one has even suggested outlawing seeking information online about abortion—yet, reading this executive order, you’d think this was happening everywhere. Instead of asking federal law enforcement to investigate and prosecute the recent perpetrators of violence, vandalism, and harassment toward pregnancy care centers and houses of worship, the president is ordering his attorney general to focus on abortion facilities, even though the law requires the U.S. Department of Justice to give equal protection to pro-life and faith-based organizations and churches. The president’s executive action also violates the constitutionally protected freedom of pro-life doctors to give their patients information on the risks of abortion.

“Further, the president’s new order is a monumental misuse of resources that could instead be channeled toward actually helping pregnant mothers who need support so that they don’t feel like abortion is their only choice. We will continue to defend pregnancy care centers and pro-life doctors and their constitutionally protected freedoms, and help states protect life by enacting laws that affirm life is a human right and ensure women have greater access to the support and resources they need and deserve.”

Harle will be testifying Tuesday before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee at its hearing, “A Post-Roe America: The Legal Consequences of the Dobbs Decision.” ADF Senior Counsel Erin Hawley will be testifying Wednesday before the U.S. House Oversight Committee on its hearing, “The Impact of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs Decision on Abortion Rights and Access Across the United States.” Both Harle and Hawley served on the Mississippi legal team in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.
