Healy v. United States Coast Guard

The #1 Thing Your Church Board Should Do Next and How It Can Help Protect Religious Freedom

Summary

The United States Coast Guard, which requires personnel to be vaccinated against a variety of diseases, refused to grant a religious exemption for Officer Joseph J. Healy, a Catholic. Two of the required vaccines are derived from cells taken from the lung tissue of a child electively aborted at 14 weeks gestation, then dissected. ADF attorneys filed a lawsuit on behalf of Ofc. Healy in 2009.
