Christian Fellowship of Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania v. Ruud

University officials agree to drop unconstitutional ‘speech codes’

Beware the Bias Investigators

Summary

Summary

On behalf of a Christian student organization, ADF attorneys challenged so-called "speech codes" at Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, Penn. SU officials failed to honor the terms of a 2004 settlement in which they agreed to drop or revise unconstitutional policies that pertain to student speech. The policy was used to strip a Christian student organization, Christian Fellowship, of its rights and privileges because members are required to sign a statement of faith and selected its leaders based on Biblical principles.
