Summary
In 2007, the University of Florida refused to recognize a Christian men's fraternity, Beta Upsilon Chi (BYX). While other groups were permitted to determine their membership based on shared values, university officials denied that right to BYX because their membership is limited to Christian men. Officials further claimed that BYX engaged in religious discrimination and was in violation of the school's non-discrimination policy. The university later adopted a new policy permitting religious groups to select leaders and members based on shared religious beliefs.
