Our Mission
Americans often don’t realize that a majority of burdensome federal mandates come from federal agencies rather than acts of Congress. Bad federal actors often hide behind the complexities of the administrative process to overstep constitutional rights, leaving ordinary Americans with little recourse to stand up against government overreach.
The Regulatory Practice Team’s mission is to stop encroachment by federal executive branch officials and agencies, and instead leverage the proper use of the administrative state to create wins on critical issues. The stakes are high: a loss or win on a particular statute or a fundamental doctrine of administrative law can have sweeping consequences across multiple agencies and issues.
WHAT WE DO
How the work of the team advances your freedom:
- Litigation—ADF is uniquely positioned to generate administrative law challenges to regulatory actions that threaten core individual freedoms. The Team’s first objective is involvement in strategic, high-impact cases against negative federal government policies to achieve lasting change.
- Submissions to federal agencies—ADF seeks to offer supportive content and guidance strengthening pro-freedom policies, and to present substantive and procedural obstacles to hostile agency actions.
- Education with allies—ADF also works to build critical relationships with key like-minded legal groups to collaborate on efforts and cases that will restrict the administrative state.
