CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys will be available for media interviews Tuesday following oral arguments in Johnson v. State of Wyoming at the Wyoming Supreme Court. ADF attorneys are representing a pro-life group and two state representatives in their efforts to defend Wyoming’s pro-life law, which pro-abortion activists are challenging.

ADF attorneys appealed to the Wyoming Supreme Court after a lower court blocked Right to Life of Wyoming, as well as Reps. Rachel Rodriguez-Williams and Chip Neiman, from intervening in defense of the state’s Life is a Human Right Act.

“The U.S. Supreme Court in Dobbs ruled that states have a compelling interest in protecting women and unborn children from abortion; the state of Wyoming is simply doing that. Wyoming is eager to uphold its law affirming that life is a human right,” said ADF Senior Counsel Tim Garrison, who will be arguing before the court. “Our clients have a clear interest in defending that law, which safeguards the lives of unborn children and the well-being of their mothers. We are urging the court to allow them to help stand up for vulnerable women and children by protecting Wyoming’s duly enacted law.”

“As a sponsor of the Life is a Human Right Act and former pregnancy center director, I am proud to affirm that all life is precious and that women deserve real health care—not dangerous procedures and drugs,” said Rodriguez-Williams. “We look forward to making our case at the Wyoming Supreme Court to protect the health and safety of women, girls, and unborn children across the state.”

ADF attorneys filed a motion to intervene in the case in April. In it, they explained that Right to Life of Wyoming and the legislators “have abiding interests in protecting women and unborn children. The Legislators have an ongoing interest in protecting their authority to regulate on abortion and related issues. [Right to Life of Wyoming] has an interest in ensuring that its advocacy efforts on behalf of [the Life is a Human Right Act] are fully defended and vindicated.”

Fred Harrison is serving as local counsel on behalf of Right to Life of Wyoming, Rodriguez-Williams, and Neiman.
