Senior Vice President of Communications and Brand
Tim Sawer serves as senior vice president of communications and brand with Alliance Defending Freedom. He brings more than 30 years of leadership in communications, marketing, and fundraising across large global and domestic nonprofit organizations.
Most recently, Sawer served as chief marketing and content officer at Focus on the Family, where he was one of five C-suite executives providing strategic direction to the ministry. He led a team of more than 180, including two vice presidents, and oversaw about $60 million of their $140 million in annual revenue accountability. During Sawer’s tenure, his team tripled the ministry’s monthly sustainer partner base and drove significant growth through innovative products and strategies.
At Focus, Sawer also oversaw boosted, social, and paid search, the web team, email deployment, customer intake and service, creative teams, brand and marketing, resources, publishing, and AV. He also worked on Adventures in Odyssey Club (growing from 15 to 55,000 members), the new Truth Rising documentary and Bible study, all Focus magazines, and its many campaigns and resources related to parenting, marriage, and pregnancy resource centers.
Before joining Focus, Sawer spent 19 years at World Vision, culminating in serving as the senior vice president of constituent engagement. In that role, he directed a team of 90+ employees, reversed a years-long decline in fundraising, and drove digital transformation across the organization. His earlier career at World Vision included roles in Canada, Brazil, and throughout Asia. Prior to World Vision, Sawer worked in tech at Corel Corporation and Intuit. He holds an M.B.A. and a B.A. in psychology. He and his wife, Jeanette, have three grown children.
