Caroline C. Lindsay

Senior Counsel

Caroline C. Lindsay serves as senior counsel on Alliance Defending Freedom’s Appellate Advocacy Team. She represents ADF’s clients before federal and state courts of appeals, including the U. S. Supreme Court.

From high-level executive branch officials, state governments, and top Fortune 500 companies, to small family-owned businesses and local churches, Caroline has spent her career helping a diverse array of clients navigate significant legal issues in complex civil litigation, with a special focus on dispositive motions and appeals. She began her career in private practice in the Washington, D.C. offices of Consovoy McCarthy PLLC and Jones Day. While practicing in the district, Caroline also served as an adjunct professor in the Supreme Court Clinic of the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University. Most recently, she co-chaired the Critical Motions and Appeals practice group at Hilgers Graben PLLC in Chicago.

Caroline is a former law clerk of Justice Clarence Thomas of the U. S. Supreme Court, Judge Gregory G. Katsas of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, and Judge Diane S. Sykes of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit. Caroline graduated with high honors from the University of Chicago Law School, where she served as Managing Editor of the Law Review. During law school, she participated in the Blackstone Legal Fellowship and was commissioned a Blackstone Fellow. Prior to that, Caroline attended the University of San Diego, where she received her bachelor’s degree in political science magna cum laude.

Caroline is a member of the Illinois and D.C. bars and is admitted to practice before the U. S. Supreme Court and various federal and state courts of appeals.
