Idaho governor signs bill to protect students’ freedom of speech on campus

The following quote may be attributed to Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Counsel Zack Pruitt, director of U.S. government relations, regarding Idaho Gov. Brad Little’s signing Friday of HB 240, a bill to protect the First Amendment rights of all students at public universities in Idaho:

“College students do not lose their constitutional rights to the freedom of speech and expression when they step foot onto a university campus. Schools must respect the First Amendment rights of all students, regardless of their political or religious beliefs, and foster a learning environment where students can freely engage in the marketplace of ideas. Idaho is right to pass a law that protects free speech on college campuses. ADF commends Rep. Barb Ehardt, Sen. Kevin Cook, and Gov. Brad Little for standing with students and joining more than 20 other states that have passed similar laws.”
