FL governor signs bill to protect children from dangerous procedures

The following quote may be attributed to Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Counsel Matt Sharp, director of the ADF Center for Legislative Advocacy, regarding Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ signing Wednesday of SB 254, a bill that protects children from dangerous, life-altering medical procedures:

“Denying the truth that we are either male or female causes actual harm to people, especially vulnerable children. Florida is right to stop the politicization of the health care system by ensuring that children are protected from life-altering, so-called ‘gender transition’ drugs and procedures. Young people deserve to live in a society that doesn’t subject them to risky experiments to which they cannot effectively consent. That’s why other countries—including Sweden, England, and Finland—are adopting policies that better protect children from the bad science that has already devastated countless lives. We commend Gov. DeSantis and the Florida Legislature for joining the growing coalition of states taking a stand for children and for truth by enacting these vital protections.”
