The following quote may be attributed to Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Counsel Matt Bowman, director of regulatory practice, regarding a letter ADF sent the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Friday urging it to investigate whether federally-funded family medicine residency programs are violating federal conscience protections by compelling residents to train in abortions and promote gender ideology:

“Doctors and medical professionals are bound by oath to ‘do no harm.’ Yet some federally-funded health care programs across the nation are compelling future doctors to train how to perform abortions or push gender ideology, in direct contradiction of their religious or ethical beliefs. President Trump’s health department has rightly sought to ‘enforce conscience rights and protect human life’ and now, it has a stellar opportunity to further that effort by investigating whether these health care entities are violating federal law. Not a single tax dollar should fund the harming of children—born or unborn.”

Alliance Defending Freedom is an alliance-building, non-profit legal organization committed to protecting religious freedom, free speech, parental rights, and the sanctity of life.
