Urge Elon Musk to take on Government Censorship

Elon Musk offered to cover your legal bill if you were unfairly treated by an employer because of something you tweeted — but what about mistreatment by the government?

In Finland, Member of Parliament Päivi Räsänen stood trial twice for charges of “hate speech” over a 2019 Tweet that included a Bible verse and questioned her church’s participation in a local Pride parade. Despite being acquitted twice, the Finnish state prosecutor has decided to appeal the second unanimous court decision that exonerated Päivi and Lutheran Bishop Juhana Pohjola of “hate speech” allegations for sharing their faith-based beliefs.

In Mexico, former congressman Rodrigo Iván Cortés was convicted of violence for expressing simple biological truths in a series of social media posts.

In Ireland, a proposed law criminalizes “hate offenses” and the possession of material that could be deemed hateful—and even allows for law enforcement to search through citizens’ text messages or emails.

Many people who are speaking and living according to the truth face discrimination, persecution, and penalties—across the globe.

On January 23, Elon Musk publicly committed to challenging Ireland’s law if it does pass, and even said he would fund the defense of citizens prosecuted under the law.

We are calling on Elon—a self-declared “free speech absolutist”—to, among other things, “harness X to make clear that no one should be punished under the law for peaceful expression.”

Will you sign our open letter to urge Elon to join us in standing up to government censorship?
