Join us and The Babylon Bee in this fight against government censorship
For centuries, people have used satire as a way to critique and debate ideas. Satire can take something people usually ignore and encourage people to pay attention and discuss it.
And The Babylon Bee is no exception. Any topic is fair game for The Babylon Bee including world news, politics, religion, housekeeping, and more. No one person or group is exempt from satire at The Babylon Bee.
Their tagline says it all: “Fake news you can trust.”
California passed two laws that censor free speech and target satirical works online, including social media. One of the laws states that satirical content about political candidates, an elected official, or other election material must include a disclaimer saying, “This … has been manipulated for purposes of satire or parody.”
This is just one more example of the government overstepping the free speech rights of Americans.
On behalf of The Babylon Bee, Alliance Defending Freedom filed a lawsuit to halt the enforcement of the laws.
A district court ruled one of the California laws likely violated the First Amendment and California officials agreed they can’t enforce the law against The Babylon Bee. The court has also temporarily stopped enforcement of the second law, which requires large online platforms to become state snitches by labeling and taking down posts.
We need your voice to help fight back.
Will you stand alongside The Babylon Bee by signing the petition below?
We can’t allow the government to get away with censorship. Your voice today will tell government officials you believe satire and all humor is protected under the First Amendment and that what they’re doing is unconstitutional.
Please stand against this extreme government overreach by signing the petition below.
- I am for The Babylon Bee’s right to write, publish, and distribute satirical content.
