Legal Counsel
Tavia Bruxellas McAlister serves as legal counsel with Alliance Defending Freedom’s Center for Public Policy. In this role, she crafts legislation, provides testimony, and advises government officials and state and national policy organizations on laws and policies that protect the fundamental right of parents to direct the moral and religious upbringing, education, and healthcare of their children.
Prior to joining ADF, Bruxellas McAlister clerked for the Hon. Chief Justice Funke on the Nebraska Supreme Court. She also has experience clerking at a large law firm and at the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office.
A native of Nebraska, Bruxellas McAlister earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Nebraska College of Law, where she graduated with distinction. During law school, she served as an Executive Editor on the Law Review. She is also a 2022 Blackstone Fellow.
Additionally, she has published law review articles on matters of Constitutional law, including, most recently, an article on parental rights, entitled Let Them Speak: The Case for Parental Rights as Educative Speech in the Nebraska Law Review Bulletin.
Bruxellas McAlister holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations: Politics and Policy from Liberty University.
