Angie Thomas

Senior Counsel


Angie Thomas serves as senior counsel and deputy director of the Church and Ministry Alliance with Alliance Defending Freedom. In this role, she participates in the leadership and overall direction of the CMA program, which serves as a resource to ministries by providing them with the day-to-day operational legal advice they need to fulfill their religious missions.

Prior to this position, Thomas served as general counsel for National Institute of Family and Life Advocates, specializing in pregnancy center legal education and leadership training, development, and education about life issues. She also served as associate director for Louisiana Right to Life during the two years prior to the reversal of Roe v. Wade, working on the pro-life constitutional amendment and legislative advocacy.

For the previous 18 years, Thomas served at Woman’s New Life Clinic, a professional counseling and medical clinic offering life-affirming services for women in unplanned pregnancies. She started as a volunteer and served on the board then moved into the director and CEO position. She led the effort to expand authentic women’s health services in south Louisiana, reclaiming reproductive healthcare and offering alternatives to Planned Parenthood.

Thomas is passionate about helping pregnancy centers develop holistic, sustainable models and implement new programs in building a culture of life. She was trained through ADF’s Blackstone Fellowship. Thomas has been featured in outlets such as NBC Nightly News, CBN, Newsmax, EWTN, The Washington Examiner, Daily Caller, NPR, and others. She is a graduate of the Manship School of Mass Communications at Louisiana State University (B.A. 2001, magna cum laude) and Loyola Law School (J.D. 2004, cum laude).
