MT governor signs bill to protect children from dangerous procedures

The state's role is secondary to the role of parents, whose rights do not stop at the schoolhouse gate.

The following quote may be attributed to Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Counsel Matt Sharp, director of the ADF Center for Legislative Advocacy, regarding Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte’s signing Friday of SB 99, a bill that protects children from dangerous, life-altering medical procedures:

“Young people deserve to live in a society that doesn’t subject them to risky experimental procedures to which they cannot effectively consent, including so-called ‘gender transition’ surgeries and drugs. By enacting this legislation, Montana has taken a critical step toward protecting children and parents from being pressured into life-altering, often-sterilizing surgeries and drugs. Denying the truth that we are either male or female hurts people, especially vulnerable children. We commend Gov. Gianforte and the Montana Legislature for joining the growing coalition of states standing for truth by enacting these protections for our children.”
