Summary
The All Life Is Valuable (ALIV) Club at St. Michael-Albertville High School in Minnesota is a student-led pro-life group that addresses issues students face, from abortion and abstinence to leadership, community service, and peer pressure. The school district denied the club official status, saying it “does not support the student body as a whole.” Yet the school recognized more than a dozen other non-curricular clubs, including the Environmental and Anime clubs, and gave them benefits ALIV never received: a special club period for meetings, announcements, and fundraising. District policy even requires equal access for clubs that meet for religious, political, or philosophical reasons.
ADF attorneys filed suit in April 2011. By June, the district had granted ALIV official status, and ADF dismissed the suit.
