Stand with Bryan and Rebecca Gantt, Christian Foster Parents Punished for Their Faith

Bryan and Rebecca Gantt were faithful foster parents to children in need for seven years—until the state of Vermont revoked their license because of their Christian beliefs.

Pastor Bryan and Rebecca opened their hearts and home to love the most vulnerable among us: children without stable families who were born with drug dependencies and special needs. They adopted three children from the foster-care system and inspired other families to foster, too.

Then, the state of Vermont insisted the Gantts comply with new foster-parent licensing policies that would require them to profess the state’s views on gender identity, to treat boys as girls—and vice versa—and even take kids in their care to pride events.

The Gantts were honest: they would love any child placed in their care, but they would not support or promote an ideology that runs contrary to their Christian faith.

The state of Vermont responded by revoking their license to foster children—despite the Gantts’ flawless track record as foster parents and glowing reputation among department officials.

This is wrong—a blatant violation of the Gantts’ First Amendment freedoms.

The problem is growing. Across the country, we’re seeing potential foster and adoptive parents barred from caring for children simply because of their faith.

And in the end, it’s children who suffer. Fewer foster parents means more kids left without a loving home.

The state cannot exclude religious parents from foster care just because it does not like their faith-based beliefs. And by excluding Christian and other religious families, the state places politics above the needs of children who want and deserve a loving home.

We’re defending the Gantts in court to protect the right of all Americans to freely live and speak according to their beliefs. Your generous gift today will help us defend against policies targeting people of faith.

Will you give to protect religious foster parents, and others whose rights have been threatened by unlawful government policies?

Thank you for your generosity!
