Shelton v. Atlanta Public Schools

Shelton v. Atlanta Public Schools

Summary

Officials at Atlanta Public Schools repeatedly refused to grant the same rights, benefits and privileges to a Christian student group, Student to Student, as it does to other student groups. Unlike other groups, STS was also forced to pay monthly rent for meeting space and excluding from other privileges extended to student clubs, including allowing it to communicate its activities. After ADF attorneys filed suit on behalf of a Christian student and his mother, the district agreed to recognize the group.
