On September 9, 2025, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit ruled that Vermont must allow student-athletes from Mid Vermont Christian School to compete in state-sponsored sports. The court found that the state violated the school’s religious freedom when it banned the school two years ago for its belief that boys and girls are different.

Female athletes in Idaho, including former track and field competitors Madison Kenyon and Mary Kate Marshall are standing up for their state’s Fairness in Women’s Sports Act. They face ACLU activists challenging the law, who would force girls to compete against biological males.
