Summary
ADF attorneys filed a friend-of-the-court brief on behalf of a parent thwarted from participating in a assignment in which parents were invited to read their child's favorite book. After Wesley Busch, a kindergartener, requested that his mother read the Bible, a school official stated that doing so equated to "proselytizing" and "promoting a specific religious point of view, and suggested that the mother read a book about "witches and Halloween" instead. However, the teacher allowed another parent to discuss Jewish religious holidays with the class.
