Poll Shows More Americans have an Unfavorable View of Planned Parenthood

October 17, 2017

By: Bob Trent

"You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time."

Abraham Lincoln said it and Planned Parenthood is learning the truth of it. What started as a crack in the armor of the bought and paid for reputation of the abortion giant has turned into a massive rift with the American people. Undercover investigations revealing it trafficked baby livers, hearts, and brains; reports of massive fraud and failure to report the sexual abuse of minors; and multiple investigations at the state and federal levels has led to a precipitous decline in popularity.

There was a time when the abortion giant had nearly all of America fooled. A steady stream of uncontested misinformation led 79% of the country having a favorable view of Planned Parenthood in 1989 with only 11% of the population seeing through the lies. In 2013 alone, it spent more than $25 million on advertising and fundraising. How things have changed.

Gallup has continued to track how voters view Planned Parenthood through additional nationwide polls. By 1993, those with an unfavorable overall view of the abortion giant increased from 11% of the nation to 13%.

Most recently, following Alliance Defending Freedom’s first report to congress of taxpayer abuse, a summer of continual scandal, including the release of sting videos by the Center for Medical Progress (CMP), the 2015 fraud report to congress, a report on the failure to report apparent sexual abuse of minors, three house hearings revealing the activities of Planned Parenthood, and an extensive forensic report detailing the validity of the undercover videos, the number of people with favorable and unfavorable views of the abortion giant stood at 59% to 37%, showing a drastic change over the past quarter of a decade.

Similarly, a Quinnipaic University poll showed that from February of 2012 to September of 2015, since the CMP videos were released, Planned Parenthood’s favorability decreased from 55% to 44%, and unfavorability increased from 22% to 39%.

The takeaway is clear. The efforts of Alliance Defending Freedom, our allies, and pro-life supporters across the country are working. We have momentum, but a beast the size of Planned Parenthood will not go down quietly. Now is the time to renew and redouble our commitment to seeing Planned Parenthood defunded and those funds given to community health clinics.

Encourage someone you know to watch the videos.

What can you do? If you haven’t seen the videos, or know people who haven’t, here is the challenge; just watch one. That is all it takes to see the truth about Planned Parenthood.

This New Bill Could Mandate Unrestricted Access to Abortion

While claiming to protect women’s health, this legislation fails to acknowledge the physical and mental toll abortion has on women—to say nothing of the unborn female lives being aborted.
