If Planned Parenthood Were Truly Interested in Women’s Health, It Wouldn’t Have Lost $63 Million

How much is it worth to Planned Parenthood to keep its abortion business up and running?

Apparently, it’s worth more than $63 million.

That’s the amount of money the abortion giant forfeited in the past few weeks to protect its true moneymaker – abortion.

Last week, Planned Parenthood announced plans to withdraw from Title X, the federal family-planning program for low-income patients, and forego $60 million in taxpayer funding. In order to participate in Title X, groups are prohibited from using these funds in any “programs where abortion is a method of family planning.”

Rather than separate its abortion operation, or simply choose to focus on true women’s healthcare services, Planned Parenthood decided to leave the program altogether. And it is fighting this Title X rule in court.

It’s clear where its priorities lie.

More recently, Planned Parenthood was forced to give up another $3 million after a jury unanimously awarded that amount in damages to a former Planned Parenthood director.

Mayra Rodriguez ran three Planned Parenthood locations in Arizona. She had worked at Planned Parenthood for 17 years and even won Employee of the Year in 2016. But in 2017, she was fired.

According to the complaint, Rodriguez was fired after she reported a facility manager’s failure to report statutory rape and an abortionist for high post-abortion complication rates, incomplete abortions, and falsifying affidavits and patient records.

Let that sink in. Rodriguez was the one who was fired – not the facility manager or abortionist.

How does that make sense?

Unfortunately, it’s not an unfamiliar story. In fact, it is eerily similar to former Planned Parenthood director Abby Johnson’s story – who Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) represented in court.

After rising through the ranks of Planned Parenthood and also being named Employee of the Year, Abby left Planned Parenthood after witnessing an ultrasound-guided abortion. When she left Planned Parenthood, Abby filed a whistleblower lawsuit against the abortion giant for “at least 87,075 false, fraudulent, or ineligible claims for reimbursement she alleges it filed for claims through the Texas Women’s Health Program totaling over $5.7 million.”

Her story was the subject of the recent pro-life movie Unplanned.

Planned Parenthood claims its focus is on providing quality women’s healthcare, but its actions speak louder than words.

Planned Parenthood recently fired its president Dr. Leana Wen because she wanted to focus on healthcare and the board of directors wanted to “double down on abortion rights advocacy.” Never mind that abortion harms women physically and psychologically and that it takes the life of an innocent child. Planned Parenthood also has a history of misuse of taxpayer funding and cover up of sexual abuse of young women, as an ADF report details. And who could forget that Planned Parenthood was caught selling aborted baby body parts for profit?

The sad truth is that if Planned Parenthood were truly interested in women’s health it might not have lost out on $63 million.

But Planned Parenthood continues to show that it will go to great lengths to protect its abortion gold mine – all at the cost of the women it claims to serve.
