This week, Joe Biden was inaugurated as the 46th president of the United States.
Whatever your thoughts about the outcome of the election, we know three things:
- God is in control, regardless of who is in the White House.
- Our God-given freedoms must continue to be protected.
- Now is our time to step up and defend them.
Our nation was founded on the fundamental principles that all men are created equal and that we are endowed by our Creator with inalienable rights. These are lofty ideals. And we haven’t always lived up to them. But it is only by protecting our God-given freedoms that we will continue on the path to a more free and prosperous society.
That is exactly what ADF is committed to.
For more than 25 years, ADF has advocated for religious liberty, free speech, the sanctity of human life, and parental rights in courtrooms at every level, all across the nation. And we have secured 11 victories preserving these principles at the U.S. Supreme Court in the last nine years.
We won’t stop.
But if President Biden lives up to his campaign promises, there will be even more work to do. Here are just a few of the campaign promises that could restrict your freedoms.
On COVID-19 Restrictions
President Biden has said he will urge state governors to issue new COVID-19 orders. This could prevent local leaders from making the best decisions for their communities and is reminiscent of what we are seeing in some states where government officials are abusing their authority to target churches. ADF successfully challenged this religious discrimination, and if necessary, we will stand up to the Biden administration as well.
On the Equality Act
The Biden campaign has promised to push for the passage of the so-called Equality Act within the first 100 days of his presidency. This would threaten the religious freedom of millions of people of goodwill who believe that marriage is the union of one man and one woman. It would also cause women and girls to lose educational and athletic opportunities by allowing male athletes who identify as women to compete in the female category.
The Biden campaign has promised to codify Roe v. Wade into federal law, work to roll back state-level abortion restrictions, and rescind bans on taxpayer funding of abortions. This threatens not only millions of unborn lives, but also pro-life individuals who object on moral and religious grounds to their tax dollars funding abortions.
On the Obamacare Abortion-Pill Mandate
The Biden campaign has promised to shrink the religious exemption and eliminate the “moral” exemption from the Obamacare abortion-pill mandate. This will violate the consciences of many religious and pro-life organizations by forcing them to include life-ending drugs and devices in their health care plans.
On the Supreme Court
The Biden campaign promised to be “open to considering” packing the Supreme Court if Amy Coney Barrett was confirmed to the Supreme Court—which happened on October 26. Biden has suggested that he might increase the number of justices on the Supreme Court bench to cement a left-leaning majority—what is known as “court-packing.”
President Biden has said that he would be a unifier and president for “all Americans.” But his agenda says otherwise.
The Constitution protects religious liberty and the right to free speech for every American, and the president of the United States should act consistently with those principles. Where President Biden acts contrary to the Constitution, ADF stands ready to defend freedom for all Americans.
But we need your help.
Will you commit to standing for the freedoms upon which this nation was founded?
Every generation faces a unique moment when it is called on to protect the guarantee of liberty enshrined in our Constitution. This is our moment. Today, you can help protect the American promises of life and liberty.
If you believe these American promises are worth defending, please sign the statement.
- I stand for America’s founding principles: that all men are created equal with inalienable, God-given rights.
- I stand against any unlawful effort by the Biden administration to restrict my constitutional liberties.
- I stand for freedom and will join Alliance Defending Freedom to preserve free speech, religious freedom, the sanctity of life, parental rights, and marriage and family.
