It has been an eventful year on the life front.
There have been ups and downs, of course. And at times, it has seemed like more downs than ups. I’m sure I don’t have to remind you of the undercover videos that show Planned Parenthood selling aborted baby parts.
But it’s important to remember the strides that the pro-life movement has made in the past year as well:
- Congress voted to defund Planned Parenthood! Even though President Obama vetoed the bill, it set historic precedent.
- 8 states have voted to redirect taxpayer funding from Planned Parenthood to health centers that truly care about women.
- We sent the message that women don’t need Planned Parenthood (just check out getyourcare.org).
Our work is not done, though. As we approach the 43rd anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion, it’s a time to reflect on the past year, but it’s also a time to remind ourselves why we continue to press on in the fight:
Every life matters. Every life is made in God’s image.
And that’s why we at Alliance Defending Freedom will be participating in several pro-life events this week, including:
Evangelicals for Life: January 21-22, Washington, D.C.
The Evangelicals for Life conference is the first major evangelical pro-life conference put on in conjunction with the March for Life.
March for Life: January 22, Washington, D.C.
The March for Life is the largest pro-life rally in the world and takes place each year on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade.
Students for Life of America National Conference: January 23, Washington, D.C./January 24, San Francisco, CA
The SFLA National Conference gathers pro-life college students with pro-life leaders for a day of training and teaching, helping to ignite the pro-life movement on college campuses.
Even if you can’t be a part of these events, we can’t win this fight without you. You are a crucial part of the pro-life movement – and we know we have another eventful year ahead of us.
Here’s what you can do:
- Pray for those taking part in these conferences and in the March for Life
- Show your support – whether or not you can attend the March – by taking the #WhyWeMarch #WeAreProLife video challenge.
Where the sanctity of human life and religious freedom are threatened, you can be sure that ADF will continue to provide a strong defense in courts nationwide.
The March for Life Education and Defense Fund has kept busy in the courts the past several years, standing up for its right to operate according to its convictions.
Today, the Supreme Court upheld U.S. Department of Health and Human Services rules that protect the conscience rights of religious and pro-life organizations.
