“We cannot look the other way.”
Filmmaker David Altrogge issued this call upon the Nov. 10 release of 3801 Lancaster: American Tragedy. The film tells the story of Kermit Gosnell, the convicted murderer who was finally brought to justice in 2013 after years of killing women and children in his filthy Philadelphia “women’s health” clinic, better and popularly described as a “House of Horrors.”
And the film couldn’t have come at a more providential moment.
Since July, America has been exposed through a series of undercover videos to the reality of Planned Parenthood’s once quiet dealing in the apparent sale of the eyeballs, brains, spinal cords, lungs, livers, and hearts of later-term babies aborted at Planned Parenthood locations.
Many of us may have already forgotten about the diabolical acts of Kermit Gosnell, and it seems that many of us are already moving on from our righteous outrage over being forced, by our own government, to provide more than $500 million a year in corporate welfare to Big Abortion’s biggest player.
But we should resist the “Squirrel!!!” temptation and not only not “look the other way,” but instead keep our eyes, our minds, and our hearts focused on the greatest human rights catastrophe of our age. Understand that the lately-exposed Planned Parenthood and Kermit Gosnell barbarism is not new and not an anomaly or “isolated incidents.” Rather it’s SOP for the world’s most murderous industry.
The parallels between Planned Parenthood and Kermit Gosnell are easily demonstrated. The picture begins to emerge in a recent headline.
Philadelphia Planned Parenthood Clinics Caught Storing Aborted Babies in Bags in Janitor’s Closet
This grisly discovery was just one violation inspectors discovered in a filthy and dangerous clinic. And this is hardly an isolated incident.
A Delaware Planned Parenthood was forced to shut down in 2013 when two whistleblowers exposed the operation as a “meat-market-style, assembly-line” of abortions performed with unsterilized instruments. More recently, two South Carolina Planned Parenthood locations were found in violation of health and safety standards. We could go on. And so can Planned Parenthood’s customers!
Compare this to the grand jury findings regarding the sanitary conditions in Gosnell’s clinic. A key word search would yield a great number of similarities.
When Gosnell’s bloody veil was finally lifted, even some ardent pro-abortion commentators were revolted by what they heard. Uniquely nauseating were the descriptions of how Gosnell “ensur(ed) fetal demise.” He or someone else would cut the back of a live baby’s neck to stop her from squirming for good. But how different, how much less revolting, is that than hearing of another baby “demised” in the virtually the same manner as Gosnell’s “snipping?”
Consider, finally, the cold consistency in the way they describe the young human victims. Gosnell once “joked” that one baby he killed was so big he could “walk me to the bus stop.” Remember the Planned Parenthood videos in which a lab-coated staffer clucked “Another boy!” while picking through the little boy’s remains? Or the Planned Parenthood executive who described various body pieces of the victims as mere “line items?”
Planned Parenthood and Kermit Gosnell are closer than cousins. They are conjoined twins who share the same space where a heart should be.
Another way they are very close is quite literal: Gosnell’s House of Horrors at 3801 Lancaster is a short ride from the Planned Parenthood clinic caught stuffing babies’ remains in its dank closet. So close to the scene of one of the nation’s most gory crime sprees – so soon after – yet these things are still going on there. And there’s another Planned Parenthood less than three miles away. Wonder what we’d find there.
The only real differences between Planned Parenthood and Kermit Gosnell are optics and influence. Tens of millions in marketing and advertising and millions more in kickbacks to political cronies on one hand, and a sinister black market operation on the other. We can’t even say it’s much of a difference in degree as more light is shone on Planned Parenthood’s Gosnellian brutality and its Devil-may-care indifference.
But what choices would women have if there was no Planned Parenthood to offer these services? Many. Options are nearer than Planned Parenthood – which tells tall tales of a women’s health apocalypse every time its public funding is scrutinized – would have you believe.
In fact, a quick search on the women’s health resource GetYourCare.org demonstrates that women are not without many choices right in the same neighborhood as the sham Planned Parenthood clinic that was caught with bloody bags of baby bodies in its closet.
So, what do we do? We can only bring change and bring justice for the voiceless when we stare evil in the face, expose it, and prayerfully labor for its demise.
Instead of looking the other way, we can lovingly point women to a better way, unlike Planned Parenthood and its kindred co-traveler, and now convict, Kermit Gosnell, both of whom have put women in peril for decades . . . for dollars . . . lots of dollars.
How specifically can you make a difference? I will suggest three ways:
- Organize a theatrical or community screening of the just-released 3801 Lancaster: American Tragedy. If you take this important step, let us know by messaging us on Facebook or tweeting ADF (@alliancedefends). We will help promote your event across our million-plus-strong social media communities!
- Spread the word about GetYourCare.org, a one-stop resource directing women and their families to the thousands of trusted, scandal-free women’s health alternatives right in their own neighborhoods.
- For friends and family who are indifferent to Planned Parenthood’s horrors, encourage them to “Just Watch One” of the Center for Medical Progress videos exposing Planned Parenthood’s sickening baby body parts trafficking. Research demonstrates that the more your friends know the truth about Planned Parenthood’s practices, the less they like them.
One thing we must not do? Look the other way.
